Becoming Elisabeth Elliot Book Review

I had never read a missionary biography before. I'm kind of a wimp and I've always thought that they might be too sad or too graphic for me to handle. But I have seen this book spoken so highly of by so many people that I could no longer resist!
Becoming Elisabeth Elliot is a biography of Elliot's early years and missions work. It chronicles how she came to be a missionary, her courtship and marriage to Jim Elliot, and her extensive experiences on the mission field. I had a little trouble getting into the book at first because it is written in such a detailed way. But as I kept reading, all the details drew me into the story.
Elliot's story is fascinating, heartbreaking, and utterly inspiring. This is a lengthy book and a slow read. I usually devour a book in about 3-4 days but this one took me 2 weeks...it was so worth it. I read this one back in June, but I'm still thinking about it. In fact, there is a section near the end about obedience that I think will stick with me forever!
I really can't recommend this book enough!

Favorite Quote: "There is always divine meaning and purpose in doing what He commands. It's just that most often we can't see that purpose; our human vision is not equipped with enough transcendent dimensions to access the loving purposes of eternity."
