Crazy Busy Book Review

This was my first book by Kevin DeYoung and I really enjoyed it! It was very engaging and made for a super quick read. Full review below!
Title and Author: Crazy Busy by Kevin DeYoung
Length: 124 pages
Overview: Crazy Busy is a short book about the big problem of busyness. The book starts by discussing how busy we have all become. My initial reaction was "wow, I guess I'm not really very busy." The level of busyness he lays out is probably accurate for many people, but was overstated compared to my life. We have had to set so many boundaries due to our son's health the past few years that we don't find ourselves overcommitted on a daily basis.
So I almost closed the book and decided it didn't apply to me. I'm really glad I decided to give it a few more chapters. After the initial set up, DeYoung goes into 7 reasons that we may find ourselves too busy. He takes a close look at the heart issues behind why we fill our schedules the way we do. It was eye-opening, convicting, and helpful all at the same time. This isn't a "how to" book on managing your schedule better. It is an evaluation of why we make the decisions we make and how that leads to busyness.
Favorite Quote: "We have to believe that the most significant opportunity before us every day is the opportunity to sit at the feet of Jesus. We won't rearrange our priorities unless we really believe this is the best one."
Something I'm applying: Sabbath is something I've been thinking a lot about lately. This book has a whole chapter on sabbath rest so it came at a timely moment for me. I want to work with my husband to figure out some kind of sabbath rhythm for our family. I don't know what that will look like yet, but it's definitely something that we need to be intentional about.
