Raising Emotionally Healthy Kids Book Review

Author and Title: Raising Emotionally Healthy Kids by Eliza Huie
Length: 94 Pages
Overview: There is a lot going on in the world right now. Children face things these days that we never had to think about. As a result, parents are left trying to guide their children through things that we may not have experience navigating. This book is meant to help parents understand how to emotionally support their children.
Huie is a biblical counselor and a licensed clinical counselor. She provides 6 tips for how to help your children handle their emotions in a healthy way. She comes at everything from a biblical worldview and gives loads of practical advice.
Read this book if: you feel a little lost with how to discuss emotions with your children. Many of the tips in the book are broken down by age group. Huie gives information on what is age appropriate for each group and then gives sample questions to ask to connect with children in each age group. I'm never sure what is age appropriate to expect my kids to understand, so I found this aspect so helpful!
Favorite Quote: "Every prayer you pray and every effort you make to wisely love and care for your child's emotional health is evidence that you are a good parent. The outcome of all parenting must be entrusted to God."
What I'm applying: This book is packed full of practical ideas to apply. I know I will go back to it over and over again as my children move into new age groups. For now, I typed up a list on my phone of some the age appropriate questions to ask to help kids discuss their feelings. That way I can access it even if the book isn't handy to have helpful conversations with my kids.
Raising Emotionally Healthy Kids is under $5 and is one book in a series of 6 practical parenting books. You can purchase it here.
